Meet Ameerah

Welcome! I am so completely honored that you are here to join me on this journey of self-development and self-discovery. This blog was created to inspire women with scars and imperfections that may feel, or have felt that they were less than, not enough, unworthy – all those negative disempowering feelings. I am here to tell you, that you are worthy, you are beautiful, and so much more!!

My Blog

Through my blog I intend to provide guidance and ingenuity to get you thinking differently about yourself. You were created for a purpose, you have within you the power from the most high (whatever your beliefs are), and your scars do not define you. You were put here to live an authentic life; whatever that means for you. If you’re holding yourself back because you feel like you don’t want to be judged by other people, or you’re judging yourself, I am here to bring awareness of your wrong thinking and help you shift into a more positive mindset. My purpose is to show you that you can live your life free and genuine, without letting insecurities run your life. So let’s get into a little about how this happened for me.

My Story

In 2009, I underwent a plastic surgery on my chest to remove a keloid and was told to use a topical ointment called Aldara Cream in the healing process. For those of you that don’t know what a keloid is, according to an article by Healthline, “When skin is injured, fibrous tissue called scar tissue forms over the wound to repair and protect the injury. In some cases, extra scar tissue grows, forming smooth, hard growths called keloids.”

Unfortunately, (or fortunately, as I have come to embrace it) the cream gave me a huge chemical burn on my chest, which formed into a much larger keloid; bigger than the one that I initially had. Two additional surgeries and over 12 years of steroid injections later, I have come to accept the scar that is now me. However, this was not always the case.

For 12 years, I have lived in shame with this scar. Only my close family and friends knew about it and even less have seen it. As a former Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader, where your looks were always front and center, you can imagine the hit I took to my self-confidence and my ego. I did not wear any type of shirt or necklace that didn’t cover up my scar…up until now, that is.

So what changed, you ask?

In September 2020 I lost my job as a contractor for the Government because the contract I was on ended. With the free time I now had, I began my journey into the world of self-development. It all started with a free online seminar called New World, New You with Tony Robbins (the biggest and awesomest success coach EVER!)  in January 2021. After that, I continued with a series of seminars with Tony. I attended his Unleash the Power within seminar in March 2021, a Wealth Mastery seminar in April 2021, and then another free seminar by Tony and Dean Graziosi in May 2021 called Own Your Future. The compounding knowledge from these seminars changed my life!

Each seminar built upon the other, like stepping stones. As I continued to hear success stories from outstanding speakers, it began to change my mindset and get out of my comfort zone a little more each time. I realized that I wanted so much more for my life. I have been restricted by this scar for years, which only served to diminish my confidence and self-esteem, feel unworthy, stuck and limited. However, after the last seminar, intuition hit! I finally decided to take back my power and no longer let this scar run the show. I wanted to be free to live the life that I was created to live; wear all the cute clothes I saw on Fashion Nova and go outside in a tank top! Restricting myself by the thoughts I had in my head was no longer an option. Therefore, I decided to think differently.

Realization

If I had restricted myself for 12 years, then I certainly couldn’t be the only one. I was sure there were women out there who felt insecure and unworthy because of a scar or imperfection. That’s when the idea of Scar Power was born! If I created content for me – things that I needed to see, hear, and learn to become better and release fear and insecurity, then I could share it with others that may need it as well. One of my favorite songs that covers this mission so well is Scars To Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara.
