Meet our April 2023 Scarlight, Ameerah B!

Okay, okay, so most of you know me already, but if you don’t, it’s nice to meet you! Please feel free to read about me and the origins of Scar Power on my About Me Page here.

The truth is, I didn’t have a Scarlight feature for this month, but it worked out because this was the perfect time to give you an update on my journey thus far. You see how the Universe works!

Also, if you would like to be featured as our Scarlight for the month, which I would absolutely love to get to know you, please complete a submission here.

Now, on to my story.

The Reason

Lately, I haven’t really felt good. I didn’t have much inspiration coming through and the motivation to be the “Founder and CEO” of Scar Power just wasn’t there.

As I posted affirmations and inspiring content, I didn’t really FEEL it. In my mind I’m thinking, “how can I tell other people to do this and to feel this, when I don’t do it or feel it.” I don’t like being in that space because I want my content to come from a place of honesty, love, and truth.

I knew that I still suffered from emotional pains from the past that were literally showing up in my body. I’ve had chronic physical pain in my lower back for over two years now. I’ve been to the chiropractor, got an x-ray, a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and been to physical therapy. I have my ups and downs with working out, but I have been doing it consistently for the past 6 weeks, and the pain is still there.

In addition, mentally, I wasn’t focused. I was in comparison mode and worried about what other people had and what they were doing. I still resided in fear, guilt, jealousy, and envy; and I was just tired of myself.

The Cleanse

I wanted a restart. But really, I needed one.

My word for this year is “Reflect”. I chose this word because I wanted a reminder to reflect what is inside, outside (as above, so below.) And that was surely happening, but not in the way I wanted!

So, I decided to get clear. Mentally, physically, and emotionally.

I went on a 5-day organic juice cleanse to clear my body of all the things and reset my system. I meditated, journaled, did breathwork, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/Tapping, exercised, and read during this time. I’m in the middle of two books right now, Eat Smarter by Shawn Stevenson, and The Greatness Mindset by Lewis Howes. Also, I had a phenomenal energy healing session with my longtime (going on 4 years now), friend and spiritual therapist who gave me some amazing guidance that shifted my perspective on an issue I was dealing with.

My goal during this time was to release any stagnant energy within me, any energy of resistance, as well as any lingering Samskaras (you can read my blog on this here). I also wanted to really connect with myself and work on managing my emotions.

My intention coming out of the cleanse was to create my life from a stronger and more stable foundation. And that is what I feel I can do now.

The Lessons

While I would love to tell you that I no longer have back pain, I’ve healed my body, and that I’m so completely focused and inspired, that’s not quite the case. However, I definitely feel much better mentally and emotionally. I am clearer and more grounded, and the pain is less in my body. I feel like it is subsiding more and more each day. Furthermore, I’ve learned a few things, which I want to share with you now.

Lesson #1

  • It’s a shift in perspective.

We create our reality (and our problems) through our thoughts. Our life is literally what we think it is. We are who we think we are. And the truth of the matter is, it is all subjective! We have the capability to learn and to change. That is what makes us so powerful! But sometimes we need someone else’s help because we can’t always see the solution. We are too close to the problem. Albert Einstein has a quote that says, “You cannot solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” This is why it is so important to have someone to talk to, a coach, therapist, or valued friend, that can see the things that you can’t, and point them out to you. Because awareness is key! If you can’t see all angles of the problem, you can’t fix it.

So, know that you have the power to change your reality and whatever you are going through, by shifting your perspective. It just takes a little work!

Lesson #2

  • Hardships are blessings.

A lot of us have had the thought “why me?” when something happens to us. I certainly have. But what I’ve learned through my years of self-development is that life happens for us, not to us. For instance, here I am, the CEO of Scar Power working to educate, inspire, and empower women to overcome their insecurities and step into their power (full potential). However, I still have insecurities and fears. I still go through things. And to be honest, sometimes I’m like, “how can I help someone else when I’m going through my own stuff?” But, I realized, that is exactly the point.

The purpose of Scar Power is to literally transform your physical and emotional scars into fuel that will help push you to the next level of being. Which means, you have to have physical and emotional scars to transform! I mean, that is how my company was built! If I hadn’t gone through all the things that I did and overcome them, then you wouldn’t be reading this right now!

I’ve learned that for any hardship that comes my way, there is a blessing in it that can you be used to make me better, and to make others better. I just have to be open enough to see it. And you can adopt this attitude as well. Remember, all it takes is a shift in perspective!

Lesson #3

  • Start from a solid foundation.

In Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, The Mastery of Love, he talks about how things are either seen through the Track of Love, or the Track of Fear.

Which one is your foundation?

We have to be mindful that we are creating our reality all the time, and we can choose to create it from a stable foundation (love), or an unstable one (fear). I noticed that I was beginning to create from an unstable foundation, so I chose to take a step back, and get grounded.

This is what I know to be true, and this is what I teach. I built my signature coaching program, Preparing For Love, on this fact. Because before you can love someone else, you have to know and love yourself first. Otherwise, you are building a relationship based on emotional hurts from past relationships, childhood traumas, unrecognized patterns, and fears. And this is sure to create an unstable foundation that will lead to self-sabotage, self-doubt, and additional emotional hurts for all involved.

In Conclusion

In order to live a fulfilling life and live up to your highest potential, you have to do the work. And sometimes that requires you to take a couple of steps back to get set to run full speed ahead. Self-development and getting to know yourself is a lifetime practice.

YOU are the most important person in your life. So, make you a priority in all areas, because everything in your life starts and ends with you. If you’re operating from a place of love, abundance, freedom and truth, then you can create miracles!

Thank you for being a part of the Scar Power community. I truly appreciate your support always. Let me know how I can help!
