Since Scar Power is a new company and brand, help me to make it go viral!!
I created this company for women, like myself, who have noticeable scars and feel that these scars have created limitations in their life (read more about the company in my What is Scar Power? post). These limitations may have resulted in these women never wearing the type of clothes they want, or left them shy or introverted, or maybe they really want to achieve something but feel they will be judged and are afraid of society’s high standards.
Well, I am here to tell you “it’s okay to be you!” I give you permission to LIVE OUT LOUD, be your best self, and do what you want to do. You don’t have to care what other people think about you. Love yourself, build yourself up, be your biggest fan, and society will catch on! And what’s better, if we all move together, WE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD!
There is no perfect, so just be you!
The beauty industry tells us that we need to be perfect through all of their clothing and makeup advertisements. Society tells us that we need to look like all the beautiful women we see on Instagram, or Facebook, or Snapchat (they really don’t even look like themselves with the heavy use of filters, Photoshop, and makeup). But, I’m not knocking them at all, because I mean, who doesn’t love a good Snapchat filter or a little Photoshop to remove a pimple that will be gone in a few days anyway!
My point is, every person is unique; there is only 1 YOU. So let’s celebrate that difference! Those of us with physical scars who don’t have smooth skin like a model, and scars that we can’t cover up, put a cream on, or get rid of, should still be celebrated.
Because we are beautiful just the way we are!
So let’s tell the world that we are HERE!! Let’s start a movement that tells the world that OUR SCARS ARE OUR POWER! That we fought, we overcame, and we are not ashamed! We are stronger for them and they have made us who we are!
WE ARE:
- BEAUTIFUL
- AMAZING
- OUTSTANDING
- INTELLIGENT
- PHENOMENAL
- POWERFUL
- STRONG
- LOVING
- CARING…..
WOMEN
Hey Ameerah! This is beautifully written.
Yes, I agreed that the media either mainstream or digital has been created a stigma in the minds of people, in the form of a flawless woman skin who is being liked by everyone while the one with a tiny scar is being rejected. They have shaped the mindset of people.
Normal girls like us with any kind of scars have to suffer a lot in real lives… But yes, your idea of creating “Scar Power” brand to empower women with scars deserves global appreciation ❤️ I am on board with you!! Keep it up.
Thank you so much Saira!! Yes, we are in this together!! As more people stand up and release their fears around their own scars, we can move toward destigmatizing scars. I appreciate your comment and your support. Thank you!!
Hello Girl. I love the whole idealogy of this program. Yes, let’s make it a movement 💪
Thank you Christal!! Yes, we have to stand up for ourselves, because no one else will! I appreciate your comment and support!
Thank you for sharing and being transparent about who you are and encouraging women to be accepting of who they are..As I look at my scars, I realize that they’re not only external but internal..hopefully one day you will touch on that topic..this is a movement for healing on many levels! LET’S GO AMEERAH
You are very welcome, thank you for your comment! And yes, I am working on creating avenues for the internal scars as well!! We all need healing, and you are correct, it starts internally!
