We see the power of change in all of nature’s beauty – the caterpillar changes into a beautiful butterfly, Winter turns to Spring, Spring to Summer, Summer to Fall, and so on. Leaves fall off the trees in autumn and help to prepare the soil for the new generation of leaves. Flowers die to bloom more beautiful than they did before. This is the cycle of life.

We are just like the caterpillar, the changing seasons, the leaves, and the flowers – we were made to evolve. Yet it is so hard for us to accept change!

Resistance

Tony Robbins says, “The strongest force in the human personality is the need to stay consistent with how we define ourselves.” The need to be comfortable in who we are, where we are, and how we are is more powerful than the powerfulest (did I just make that word up?) tornado. Our resistance is strong!

I have been through so many ups and downs over the past two years, that I am becoming best friends with change. Well, I should say, I’m learning to. It has taken a lot of reflecting, understanding, forgiving myself, faith, and trust to fully accept that change is leading me to where I need to be. I know that one day, I will look back on all these things and realize that they were the pieces I needed to paint that Mona Lisa of Ameerah. And I will be grateful for it all!

In the meantime, I’ll try to be as open as I can and keep on this self-development journey.

Embracing Chocolate

We all have favorite songs that we can listen to repeatedly until we get tired of them. Radio stations play the same songs until we tire of them as well. So, isn’t it refreshing when you hear a new song with a great beat and lyrics?! I recently discovered the option on Apple Music to “suggest music like this.” It is an option that recommends new songs based on the songs you love already. I have found some amazing music that way. Talk about the power of change!

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we tuned into the great moments of life where we felt our best, or the most loved, and told the Universe to “suggest life like this?” Then, it would be so easy to just go with the flow of things. Well, why can’t we do that? It takes a little work (okay, it takes a lot of work, and frustration, and tears), but if we could get to the point where we focus on what’s good and just go with the flow, then life would be like a “box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” (See what I did there!)

And the best thing of all is…it’s all CHOCOLATE!! And who doesn’t love chocolate? Except maybe the people who may be allergic to it or the ones who really don’t like it. (You understand where I’m going with this.) Instead of using all of our energy to resist what is, let’s just try to go with the flow.

Let It Flow

Humans are creatures of habit. We like things to be the way they’ve always been. It’s comfortable, we’re in our zone and that’s where we like to live. But wouldn’t it be a little more exciting if we changed up sometimes?

Change comes into our lives to move us forward. Otherwise, we’d always stay comfortable where we are forever. I always say we were meant to evolve; this is evidenced by the fact that we age and change with the times. Who wants to be a 3-year-old forever?

When we’re younger, we look forward to being 13 when we’re finally a teenager, or 18 when we’re finally an adult, or the magic age of 21 when we can drink alcohol. But as we age more and more, we want to stop changing, but that is the magic of life! It’s constantly evolving. We get better, wiser, and I for one love it!

Becoming More

I love becoming more knowledgeable, and I love the feeling of growing – of looking back on situations that once bothered me and realize that they don’t bother me anymore. Or looking back to decisions that I’ve once made and realize that those decisions have helped me get to where I am now. The best feeling in the world, or, I should say, one of the best feelings in the world, is breaking patterns.

Have you been in a situation where you always made the same choice, knowing that it may be bad for you, but you did it anyway? And of course, it yielded the same result? I certainly have. But then one day, you made a different decision. Didn’t that feel good?!

If we can harness the power of change, it can be a powerful tool and motivator to help us evolve into our highest self. So, accepting change as a challenge, or fun, or something to look forward to is invigorating! I personally have been through major life changes within the past 2 years, read About Me here (more to come in my upcoming book), and trust me, all of these changes were hard, but I got through them.

Not only did I get through them, but I have grown so much as a result! I have become more! I love the space that I am in now, because I now realize my value and worth. I do not put up with the things that I once have. I cut off people that no longer serve my best interest. I’ve made the hard decision to move across country, away from all the things I know. But I am free to craft the life that I want, and I am better prepared for it!

The Power of Change

Change prepares you and makes you stronger in life, for life. Change has made me more compassionate and more adaptable to others’ pain because I’ve had pain. I know what it feels like to feel alone or to not be excited about the future.

Now I look at change as another opportunity to grow. Another chance to get to that next level, and it’s not as scary as it once was. I still have fears that I am working through, and as a business owner, you must learn fast and dissipate that fear quickly, or else you’ll miss out on opportunities, so I’m constantly working every day to reclaim my true self. I’m at a place where I can talk myself through a problem, pray about it or journal with myself to gain a new perspective.

The power of change helps you to accept where you are, accept what is, and have faith that wherever you’re supposed to be at this point, you are there.
